4 hours of indie film from around the world and a great evening of networking, drinking, conversation, and watching some of the best indie films on the global festival circuit was had in Venice Beach last night at the very first Los Angeles Lift-Off 2013.

The free event at Beyond Baroque was well attended with simultaneous screenings in the outdoor and indoor locations, a heavily subscribed donation bar and an audience charged with a positive festival mood.

The theme for the narrative content at Lift-Off has always been loosely connected to the idea that people rule drama. Emotions and the connections we make as we live our lives. On the front inside cover of this years Los Angeles Lift-Off we decided to set the mood by giving the urban dictionary’s definition to the word “Sonder”, as we felt that this really gave the audience member the best possible introduction to what it is we, as programmers, wanted to release with our selected screenings.
